On the Paths of (In)visible Women of Mostar

Mostar is a city of rich cultural heritage that attracts the attention of the world with its architecture, beauty and history. Deeply rooted in his story, however, lie the stories of extraordinary women whose contributions are often not sufficiently explored or valorized in the collective memory. Throughout the past centuries, Mostar has been adorned not only with its imposing buildings, but also with true heroines who shaped this city with their strength and talents, but their story has often remained hidden.

With the tourist map, I am trying to revive their contribution and remind the public of their role in the construction of Mostar as we know it today. While their stories may not be prominent in everyday life, they are nevertheless an indelible part of Mostar’s history, and their significance reaches deep into the foundations of this city. Through this map, we will discover the secret strength and perseverance of these women, and try to point out their importance in the collective memory of Mostar.

In this map, we will single out several locations in the City of Mostar that we will connect with famous women from Mostar’s past.
