The Tourist Board of the City of Mostar, in cooperation with the City of Mostar, started an important initiative aimed at the interpretation and preservation of the rich cultural, historical and natural heritage of our city and its surroundings. Thus, as part of the project of marking significant monuments, bilingual information boards were placed at more than 20 necropolises, which offer tourists and visitors clear, professional and accessible interpretations of the values of those localities.
"With this project, we want to draw attention to important, but often neglected, sites and put them in the function of cultural tourism. In this way, we not only preserve our heritage, but also bring it closer to the world," said Elvira Ćemalović, director of the Mostar City Tourist Board.
The texts on the boards were prepared by academic experts in the fields of history, archaeology, and cultural heritage, ensuring a credible and professional interpretation of each site.
After the initial phase of marking the necropolis, plaques were placed at other significant sites such as the Cim Basilica, Sheikh Juija's tomb, Tabhana, the Bishop's Residence in Vukodol, the Green Cave in Blagaj, the Scythian Chair in Blagaj and others.
The Tourist Board of the City of Mostar hereby once again confirms its commitment to the preservation of cultural identity and emphasizes the importance of the interpretation of cultural resources in the modern tourist context.
