The Tourist Board of the City of Mostar and the City of Mostar invited tourist guides to create a platform for better tourism development

The Tourist Board of the City of Mostar and the City of Mostar have launched an initiative aimed at creating a joint platform for tourist guides, for better organization, exchange of ideas, suggestions and experiences, and improvement of tourism in Mostar. At a meeting with tourist guides who face numerous challenges in their daily work, Elvira Ćemalović, Director of the Tourist Board of the City of Mostar, and Mario Kordić, Mayor of the City of Mostar, sent a clear message about the importance of cooperation for the further development of Mostar as one of the most important tourist destinations in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

"You have a partner in the Tourist Association of the City of Mostar, and with this initiative we want to show that we care about putting things in order. You are the foundation of tourism and ambassadors of Mostar, and with you we want to create an area that will be better organized and of higher quality than what Mostar is today," said Ćemalović.

The city of Mostar is actively working on the development of tourism management tools, including the "Mostar Pass" project and numerous other guidelines. It was emphasized that tourist guides are key partners in this process, and the City of Mostar has the ambition to develop into an organized and systematic tourist destination, comparable to other European cities.

"We are ready to take the next step together with our partners, and I see tourist guides as partners, so that one day we can have a well-organized tourist city. Given your direct contact with tourists, it is time to get involved in making important decisions. It is my obligation to create a framework for you, it is your obligation to group together and present your ideas," said Mayor Kordić.

During the meeting, the guides highlighted the key challenges they face, including the problem of a lack of communal wardens and representatives of the Ministry of the Interior to deal with irregularities in the old city core. They also expressed concern about the work of unlicensed foreign guides, as well as permit issues and security issues, such as pickpocketing, which negatively affect the city's image.

The guides welcomed the initiative of the City of Mostar and the Tourist Board, expressing their desire for joint cooperation on the creation of clear guidelines that will improve the quality of services and protect the interests of all stakeholders in tourism.

This initiative represents a significant step towards strengthening the tourism infrastructure of the City of Mostar and raising the quality of services provided by tourist guides. By introducing new guidelines and regulations, the Tourist Board of the City of Mostar, in cooperation with the competent institutions, plans to facilitate the work of tourist guides and enable better promotion of Mostar as an attractive tourist destination.
