Street Arts Festival Mostar started its jubilee 15th edition

Mostar once again became the stage of art in public space. The jubilee, 15th edition of the Street Arts Festival Mostar (SAFMo) started on August 21 and until August 31 brings a rich program that unites street art, international cooperation, new generations of artists, music, design and multimedia.

For fifteen years, SAFMo has been changing the vision of Mostar and bringing art closer to citizens and visitors through interventions in public space. Numerous murals and artworks created during previous editions are today an integral part of the urban landscape of Mostar, and over the years the festival has outgrown the framework of a classic street art event and developed into an important platform of contemporary urban culture.

Fifteen years of art changing the city

This year's anniversary edition carries a strong message of continuity, but also of opening space for new authors, ideas and artistic forms. The program connects artists and collaborators who marked the history of the festival with new generations of authors, and the public space once again becomes a place of artistic production, meeting and exchange.

A special value of the festival is the fact that the artistic interventions remain in the city even after the festival program ends and continue to be inscribed in the visual identity of Mostar.

It is precisely the recognition and value of SAFMo's murals and public art that has gained additional importance in the context of cultural tourism in recent years. The Tourist Board of the City of Mostar organized the education of tourist guides dedicated to the murals and public art of the Street Arts Festival, which further included this valuable festival heritage in the interpretation of the city and its tourist offer.

The OFF program brings music, multimedia and exhibitions

The jubilee SAFMo also brings a rich OFF program, which spreads the festival content to different city locations and connects street art with music, multimedia, design and contemporary art.

The program started on August 22 in the Sky Lounge Bar, with the opening of REKONEKT 15 SAFMO, with DJ Jasmina and Marina Mimoza.

On August 23, the project Mostar Mosaic - Democracy Is Fun was presented at MC Pavarotti, a multimedia project by the artistic duo Mutual Loop, Martina Tritthart and Holger Lang, which connects light, sound, video and various original artistic expressions.

Tonight, August 24 at 9 p.m., the program continues in Rezon, where Hoću Disko will take place, with Lunar and DJ Joza.

On August 25 at 21:00 at the Sky Lounge Bar, SAFMO × Herz Reunion will follow, with Black Loops, Andrej Jelic and Lubnya.

The finale of the anniversary program will be held on August 31 at the Museum of Modern Art of the University of Mostar, where an exhibition dedicated to Milton Glaser, one of the most significant authors in the history of contemporary graphic design and visual culture, will be presented.

The exhibition is realized in cooperation with the Museum of Modern Art of the University of Mostar and the Museum of Contemporary Art of the Republika Srpska, and it has a special value thanks to the collection of Glaser's works, which arrived at MSURS with the donation of graphic designer Mirko Ilić.

A festival that connects people, art and Mostar

The fifteenth edition of SAFMo is also dedicated to all artists, collaborators, volunteers, partners and friends who have participated in its development over the past fifteen years.

Among the ambassadors of the jubilee edition are Karla Ćosić and Lunar, while longtime collaborator and artist Peter Lorenz is an important part of the festival story. It was the network of people, artistic collaborations and international contacts that enabled SAFMo to grow year after year and develop new formats.

From the first street art interventions to today's program that includes murals, multimedia, music, exhibitions and design, the festival remains true to its fundamental idea - art that enters the public space and through it opens space for new artistic and social collaborations.
