International Day of Peace 2026: Mostar from September 17th to 19th, a center for peace initiatives, dialogue and art - reminder

The Peacebuilding Network, in cooperation with partner organizations ProPeace and the United World College Mostar (UWC Mostar), announces a three-day celebration and commemoration International Day of Peace, which will be held from September 17 to 19, 2026 in Mostar.

The rich program will include a series of workshops, panel discussions, cultural and artistic events, with the aim of promoting non-violent communication, interreligious dialogue and activism among young people.

Key highlights of the program:

  • Thursday, September 17:
    • The program begins with workshops by the Dignitet Association on creative writing, painting, and the development of local initiatives at the Mostar National Theater.
    • A round table on the topic will be held at 18:00 at the National Theatre "Interreligious dialogue in practice: what really builds peace in BiH", in which Fr. Ivo Marković, Prof. Dr. Zilka Spahić Šiljak, deacon Branislav Rajković and Vladimir Andrle, moderated by Emina Frljak.
    • At 8:00 p.m., a ceremony is planned Awarding of the "Goran Bubalo" Peace Prize, with a performance "We will be your eyes" (hosted by Sanela Kuko), followed by a film screening "Partisan Necropolis".
  • Friday, September 18:
    • After the ceremonial opening at the National Theater Mostar, visitors will have the opportunity to visit the Partisan Memorial Cemetery with expert guidance.
    • The afternoon hours bring a panel discussion "Teaching Peace: Rethinking the Narrative", workshops organized by students and staff, as well as the program "Living library - conversation with books" at the United World College (UWC Mostar).
    • In addition to the workshop "Dialogue to peace" on nonviolent communication and NLP (Selma Teparić and Sanela Kuko), the evening part of the program will be marked by a performance "Bleeding of the Stone" performed by the Mostar Youth Theater.
  • Saturday, September 19:
    • The final day is reserved for an interactive event "Around the World in 80 Minutes", which will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Španski trg in front of UWC Mostar.

The organizers invite all citizens, media representatives and civil society organizations to join the celebration of the International Day of Peace in Mostar.
