The Tourist Board of the City of Mostar, in cooperation with the City of Mostar and Mostar Airport, hosted, on Saturday May 10, a delegation of tour operators from the Republic of Turkey, businessmen and representatives of the airline AJet in Mostar.
This initiative represents a significant step in strengthening Mostar’s presence on the Turkish tourist market, especially in the context of the announced airline routes that AJet will soon establish to Mostar.
The visit was also organized with the aim of introducing guests to the tourist offer of the City of Mostar and the wider Herzegovina region. The attendees were welcomed by the Mayor of Mostar Mario Kordić and the President of the City Council Đani Rahimić, who emphasized that this is a continuation of the friendly relations that the City of Mostar cherishes with the Republic of Turkey.
”We welcome the opening of new airlines and in the hope of better connections between our two countries, we support this initiative and welcome our friends from Turkey. I would also invite businessmen from Turkey to see the opportunities we offer them, the openness of our city and find partners in us for their future business initiatives,” emphasized Mayor Kordić.
That Mostar is committed to and has and wants to continue good relations with Turkey, was also emphasized by the President of the City Council Đani Rahimić, and stated that the proof of this is the fact that Mostar is one of the rare cities in BiH that has a consulate of the Republic of Turkey.
The new cooperation was also welcomed by the Consul General of the Republic of Turkey in Mostar, Fatih Ekinci, who stated that Turkey has very strong and genuine historical, cultural and economic ties with our country.
”When it comes to the friendly state of BiH, Turkey is very determined and will continue to conduct its policy in order to contribute in every possible way to its stability, prosperity and economic development. The best indicator of this determination is the recently announced direct flight route that will be operated by the Turkish company AJet. This project has been a long time in the making, on both sides, and it is a special honor and pleasure for me that as of June 4, 2005, a regular flight will start between Istanbul and Mostar,” the Consul General emphasized, adding that it will certainly be an opportunity to create new business opportunities for these two countries.
The Director of the Mostar City Tourist Board, Elvira Ćemalović, greeted her friends from Turkey and the businessmen present, and stated that tourism is currently the largest economic sector in this city, and she believes, as confirmed by statistical data, that guests from Turkey are leading in our country, and hopes that this trend will continue, which is definitely confirmed by the introduction of this new airline.
“We are very open to cooperation, you can always rely on the Mostar City Tourist Board, and I am convinced that we have a lot to offer,” said Ćemalović, and introduced the Turkish guests with the Mostar Pass card, which she hopes will also be distributed in their country.
