The President of the Organizing Committee of the Mostar Run Weekend event, Franjo Lovrić, announced a record number of 2,500 direct participants in this year’s event, which will be held in Mostar from March 21 to 23. This unique sports event will attract runners and visitors from more than 50 countries around the world, confirming Mostar as an attractive destination for sports tourism.
The event begins on Friday, March 21, with a sports fair on the sixth floor of TC Mepas Mall, starting at 10 am, where participants will be able to pick up their starting packages. On the same day, at 7 pm, a Run Conference with interesting lectures will be held in the congress hall of Hotel Mepas.
Among the lecturers will be well-known names such as Ecija Ojdanić, Tomislav Cvitanušić and Marko Kos, who will share their experiences and advice on running and healthy living.
On Saturday, March 22, the Mostar Run Weekend is expected to feature a spectacular program, starting with the Rolla Mostar Half Marathon, which starts from the bridge in Vojno at 08:30, and a humanitarian 4K race that will take place starting at 12:00 in front of TC Mepas Mall. The program continues with a demonstration jump from the Old Bridge at 14:00, a theater performance “Vla Vla Vlajland Cabaret” at the National Theater at 19:00, and a music concert “Tribute to Bijelo dugme i Indexi” at OKC Abrašević starting at 21:00.
The event has also been supported for many years by local institutions, such as the Sports Association of the City of Mostar, which will again be an important partner this year. The Department of Culture of the City of Mostar has prepared a rich cultural program that includes performances by local majorettes, dance clubs and cultural societies, which will give the event an additional dimension and become a true festival of togetherness, and the support of the Tourist Board of the City of Mostar is also unquestionable.
“This event highlights the importance of sports tourism for the development of the destination, and I congratulate you on the skillful involvement of the local community,” said the director of the TZ of the City of Mostar, Elvira Dilberović.
Mayor dr. Mario Kordić pointed out that the event is growing for the ninth year in a row, and that this year the theme related to people with disabilities is particularly important.
“The Mostar Run Weekend is not only a sporting event, but a platform that connects the community and raises awareness of important social issues”. The mayor thanked the organizers for the excellent work they do for the promotion of the city, but also everyone who supports this event, the MUP Mostar, and the general sponsor such as the company Rolla, which has been supporting the event for the third year, an even greater success is expected than in previous years, emphasized Kordić.
