On Saturday, November 16, 2024, the Tourist Board of the City of Mostar, in cooperation with the Via Dinarica project, officially opened the educational and thematic trail \"Park of the Slavs\" in Ruji\u0161te. In front of numerous citizens and visitors, the event was marked by a rich program and speeches by prominent officials.<\/p>\n

The Director of the Tourist Board of the City of Mostar, Elvira Dilberovi\u0107, highlighted the Tourist Board's commitment to revitalizing this popular picnic area and pointed out that this trail is the first step in a series of future projects. \"The opening of 'Park of the Slavs' represents our commitment to improving the tourist offer of Mostar and its surroundings. This is just the beginning of a series of activities that we plan to implement in Ruji\u0161te,\" said Dilberovi\u0107.<\/p>\n

The attendees were then addressed by Salem Mari\u0107, President of the City Council of Mostar, who highlighted the importance and support that the City Council provides to the Tourist Board in building tourism infrastructure. \u201cThe development of such projects is extremely important for our city. We are proud to support initiatives that contribute to the tourism and economic progress of Mostar,\u201d said Mari\u0107.<\/p>\n

The Director of the Regional Office of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP BiH) in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bo\u017eena Kaltak, thanked the Italian Development Agency, the financier of this project, and highlighted the importance of the development of the Via Dinarica trail and the role of Bosnia and Herzegovina in it. \u201cThe Via Dinarica is recognized globally as one of the best examples of sustainable tourism development. Bosnia and Herzegovina has a key role in this initiative, and 'Park of the Slavs' is a great addition to that story,\u201d said Kaltak.<\/p>\n

After the opening speeches and the ribbon-cutting ceremony, the citizens set off on a tour of the new two-kilometer trail, which represents a unique combination of natural beauty and educational content about Slavic mythology. The gathering continued with a portion of traditional beans and DJ music, while the youngest visitors were given thematic coloring books.<\/p>\n

This event marks the beginning of a new era in the tourism offer of Mostar and the surrounding area, with a focus on sustainable development and the promotion of cultural and historical heritage.<\/p>\n

The Via Dinarica project is implemented and co-financed by UNDP BiH with the financial support of the Agency for Development Cooperation of the Republic of Italy (AICS).<\/p>\n
