The Tourist Board of the City of Mostar at the working meeting of the Federal Ministry of Environment and Tourism and UNDP

The Tourist Board of the City of Mostar, headed by director Elvira Ćemalović, participated in a working meeting held on December 15 in Sarajevo, organized by the Federal Ministry of Environment and Tourism, headed by Federal Minister Nasiha Pozder, in cooperation with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The working meeting brought together managers of relevant institutions and organizations with the aim of strengthening inter-institutional cooperation and improving the planning of development programs in the field of tourism at the level of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The agenda of the meeting presented the activities of the Federal Ministry of Environment and Tourism, with a review of past work, achieved results and current challenges, as well as thematic presentations of projects and initiatives of international partners.

The discussion focused on the problems faced by private landlords, which are common to all cantons in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. An appeal was made to the Federal Ministry of Environment and Tourism to clearly define the method and procedure for registering private landlords, in cooperation with the Federal Tax Administration.

Federal Minister of Environment and Tourism Nasiha Pozder pointed out that until the adoption of the draft Law on Tourism in the Federation of BiH, the previous opinion from 2018, which defines the method and guidelines for registering private landlords, remains in force.

The director of the Tourist Board of the City of Mostar, Elvira Ćemalović, initiated the initiative to continue discussions with the Ministry of Tourism of the Republic of Srpska, with the aim of establishing a unique e-platform at the state level as the only long-term sustainable solution. Such a platform would enable the collection of all relevant data on the number of guests, length of stay and other statistical indicators, which are of key importance for the development of quality development strategies in tourism.

Director Ćemalović also suggested that the Public Call of the Federal Ministry of Environment and Tourism for 2026 should be developmentally focused on the specific needs of individual cantons, pointing out that dividing financial resources among a larger number of users does not contribute to the real and sustainable strengthening of tourist destinations.

By participating in this meeting, the Tourist Board of the City of Mostar confirmed its active role in the creation of development policies and initiatives in tourism, as well as its readiness to cooperate with federal institutions and international partners in order to further improve the tourist offer of the City of Mostar.
