In order to organize Mostar as a tourist destination, and at the initiative of the director of the Tourist Board of the City of Mostar, Elvira Ćemalović, a meeting was held today with Mrs. Amira Trbonja, head of the Department for Economic, Communal and Inspection Affairs of the City of Mostar.
A list of 340 private accommodation providers in Mostar who advertise through online rental platforms and who do not have a decision on meeting the conditions for providing accommodation services and the requirements for the category has been submitted to the Mayor of Trbonje.
If we consider the fact that we are talking about almost 2,000 beds, it is clear how much the City of Mostar, the Tourist Board of the Croatian National Theatre and the Tourist Board of the City of Mostar, which is not funded by the budget, are losing funds that are legally due to them, and which are invested in developing tourist infrastructure and creating tourist content that would attract tourists and keep them there longer.
What is of particular concern to the Tourist Board of the City of Mostar is the security aspect of this problem, as it remains unknown who is staying in a particular accommodation and whether it poses a potential threat to the safety of citizens.
In addition to the above, unregistered private accommodation makes it impossible to record the number of guests, their origin and length of stay, which creates a problem when creating analyzes and strategies for tourism development.
Mrs. Trbonja pointed out that the Department she heads will make every effort to resolve this issue as soon as possible.
Director Ćemalović thanked them for the meeting, the constructive conversation, and the will to solve this problem systematically.
