This year, the Mostar City Tourist Board and the City of Mostar are presenting initiatives at the International Economic Fair that connect the local community and contemporary trends in tourism, with a special emphasis on outdoor and active tourism.
In this context, on the third day of the Fair, at the panel discussion “Active Mostar for Active Tourism”, three associations that have become indispensable players on the tourist map of Herzegovina through their work were presented: Kinezis Mostar, Climbing Blagaj and HPD Prenj 1933.
As it was pointed out, these associations launch initiatives that promote active spending time in nature, sports activities and environmental conservation, while offering tourists authentic and unforgettable experiences.
”Mostar Run Weekend has been the most numerous event of this type in our country for the past three years. This year we had competitors from 55 countries around the world, more than 50 percent of the participants came from outside Bosnia and Herzegovina. When we created the race route itself, we thought about the tourist aspect and since Mostar is a city of bridges, we decided to create a bridge half marathon and brand ourselves in that direction”, said the representative of the Kinezis Citizens’ Association.
He added that in this way they connected the entire story of active tourism, and that it makes sense because there are currently more than 50 million recreational runners in Europe. runners, and that is one pool towards which they want to promote Mostar and BiH.
The Climbing Association from Blagaj brings together lovers of sport climbing and the adventurous spirit. Since its establishment, the members of the association have been working intensively on mapping and arranging climbing routes in the vicinity of Blagaj, which is already recognized as one of the most attractive outdoor destinations in BiH.
‘‘What is specific to Blagaj is that people mostly come for one-day trips and then move on. Climbers stay for a minimum of seven days and up to a month or two. We have also become known for our climbing festival that we organize and in which we increasingly include the local community. We have participants from 25 countries, and people who return to Blagaj year after year,’’ said Omar Nazečić on behalf of this Association.
Representatives of the Croatian Mountaineering Society Prenj 1933 from Mostar, which is one of the oldest and most active mountaineering societies in Bosnia and Herzegovina, also presented themselves to the attendees. This was followed by an interesting panel discussion organized by the City of Mostar on the topic “Life by the River: A New Shine for Buna and Bunica”, with the participation of the organizations People in Need and LDA Mostar.
An interesting presentation and performance will also be organized on the next day of the fair. Namely, on Friday, April 11, it is reserved for the panel “How Art Shapes Mostar”, where Mostar artists will share their vision of tourism development through their activities.
Visitors will have the opportunity to witness the creation of a mural by artists in front of the Rezon Association.
