Day 4 of the Fair: How Artists Shape Mostar

The Mostar City Tourist Board and the City of Mostar brought together organizations and individuals who, through various forms of art and culture – from fine arts, photography and music, to theater and gastronomic festivals – contribute to the creation of Mostar’s unique cultural identity on the fourth day of the International Economic Fair.

At the panel discussion ‘‘How Art Shapes Mostar’’, Mostar artists shared their views on the development of tourism through their own activities. The topic of the discussion was the role of art in shaping the image of the city, its influence on young people, tourism, and the potential and challenges faced by artistic initiatives.

‘’This is a special story and a beautiful postcard from Mostar, because in addition to the rich cultural heritage and historical legacy, people can see another side and the urban culture that we have throughout the city. I don’t know of any other city that has a street like Aleksa Šantić’s, which is like an open-air gallery,’’ said Marina Đapić from the Rezon Association, emphasizing that the Street Arts Festival has been focused on multiculturalism from the very beginning because they believe that the synergy of diversity gives the wind at their back.

The Mostar Photo Club brings together enthusiasts and professionals in the field of photography and actively contributes to the visual promotion of the city. Their works tell the stories of Mostar through the lens, preserving memories and creating new perspectives.

‘‘We gathered first and foremost as lovers of photography and everything that photography entails, which can also help promote the city of Mostar. We have accompanied a large number of events that take place in Mostar and through various activities we have become a serious platform,’’ said Svetislav Cvetković on behalf of this club.

The organizers of the MOBA Food Festival and the Mostar Summer Fest, which has been gathering thousands of visitors for years, bringing energy and urban spirit to the city, and creating a stage for local and regional performers, introduced themselves to the attendees.

In Pavilion 2 of the Mostar Fair, at the stand of the Tourist Board of the City of Mostar and the City of Mostar, Orhan Maslo Oha, an artist and cultural activist whose work is recognized in the country and abroad and who, through music and socially engaged projects, connects creativity with social change and community development, shared his experiences and work.

After an interesting panel discussion, visitors had the opportunity to witness the creation of a mural by artist Karla Ćosić on behalf of the Rezon Association. The last day of the fair, Saturday, April 12th, will be an opportunity for final socializing, gathering impressions, and exchanging experiences.
